SATURDAY , MARCH 5 , 1831 . STATE OF MEATH . - In consequence of large assemblages of people , to the amount of several thousands , having taken place in the neighbourhood of Kells and Nobber , who marched through the country demanding a reduction of rents , particu larly of potatoe - ground - an advance of wages to one shilling a day - and the threats they held out against the Magistrates and Gentry -- the government have thought it expedient to send a troop of the 12th lancers and a company of the 92d Highlanders to the neighbourhood . We understand Major Warburton , the stipendiary Magistrate , had previously left town by orders of Government . - Among other threats held out against the Gentry , was a circular desiring them to meet at the peril of their lives , and the safety of their property , at a place indicated , for the purpose of settling the rate of wages , and the prices to be paid for the carriage of goods , & c . All the useful farming operations are suspended , and in some ca ses they insist on spade husbandry and no other . - Dublin Eve ning Post .

Neither the 12th Lancers nor Enniskilling Dragoons had , up to Yesterday , received any notice of removal - a circumstance of rather unusual occurrence , as the cavalry changes through out the two kingdoms are generally arranged before the mouth of April .

Campbell , General Pilking ton , & c . , & c . , entered the field , when a salute was fired by the artillery . The gallant Marquis was dressed in huzzar uni form , and wore several military and other orders . - After in specting the troops in line , they marched past in squdrons in low and quick time and fired a feu de joie of three rounds. FETE OF THE OFFICERS OF THE TWELFTH LANCERS . A sumptuous entertainment was given on Friday , the 10th inst . , at the Lucan Spa Hotel , by the Officers of the 12th Lancers , to the principal nobility and gentry of Dublin and its vicinity . Four hundred persons were invited , and notwithstanding the extraordinary inclemency of the day , very few apoligies were received . Dinner was served at six . It consisted of all the delicacies of the season , with a profusion of cham pagne and ices . Before nine the ball commenced , and supper was an nounced at twelve , after which the dancing was resumed with great spirit , and the party had not finally dispersed till long after sunrise the following morning . Nothing could exceed the politeness and attention of the gallant hosts to their much - gratified guests - and much credit is due to Mr. Collins for an entertainment substantially good , and charac terised by much taste and order . The gallery of the ball room was filled by Mr. Kelly's excellent qundrille band , and the band of the 12th Lan cers performed during the whole of the evening in the hall leading to the dinner and ball room . Amongst the distinguished persons present were : -Their Graces the Duke and Duchess of Leinster .

The removal of the 12th Lancers from Dublin is very uncertain Their ultimate destination , however , is New bridge ; but they will not remove until the arrival of the 4th Royal Irish Dragoons from Edinburgh .
June 20 , 1831 .
As soon as the Royal Barracks are vacated by the 12th , the 10th Hussars will move into them : this change will be owing to the circumstance of the unusual strength of the 1st Dragoon Guards - eight troops - the Royal Barracks , conse quently , nat being sufficiently commodious .
June 21 , 1831 .
A squadron of the 12th Royal Lancers will leave town to morrow to take possession of Newbridge barracks .

ROBBERY OF FIRE - ARMS FROM THE MILITARY AT CAS TLECOMER . - On Sunday evening , between five and six o'clock , an out - house belonging to Mr. Butler Wandesford , at Castle comer , in which four of the 12th Lancers were billetted , was broken into and robbed of seven pistols . Colonel Osborne , with Captain Trench and a party of police , immediately after the occurrence , searched several suspected houses , but without being able to discover any of the arms and on the following day the police made another and more extensive search in the neighbourhood , accompanied by Richard Eaton , Esq . , which also proved fruitless . We advert to this alarming fact with feelings of deep regret , as being in every way a foretoken of the gathering storm . A more cool and audacious attempt has never been made even in a country where actual rebellion and general conflicts exist . The spirit by which the peasantry have been animated we thought had been sufficiently disclosed in their late assaults upon the military and and police ; but this daring spoliation has been marked by a peculiar degree of cool resolution in following up , by procuring additional arms , the late ferocious massacre . Hence the military may learn that they will encounter precisely the same mercy as the police at Hugginstown , should they ever be subjected to the sanguinary vengeance of the populace . - Kilkenny Moderator .
