MISS JOAN TEMPLER 1933 Marriage to Captain Geoffrey Bishop , of the 9th Lancers The Bishop of Edinburgh officiated at the marriage between Captain Geoffrey and Bishop , 9th Lancers , Miss Joan which Templer , took place at St. Cuthbert's Church , Norham - on - Tweed , on Saturday . The bridegroom is the only son of Major and Mrs. Charles Bishop , of Barton Abbotts , Tetbury , Gloucestershire , and the bride is the elder daughter of Brigadier - General and Mrs. Templer , of Hawkslaw , Coldstream , Berwickshire . The bride , who was given away by her father , wore a gown of oyster chiffon , with a train in panels of chiffon and satin , cut in one with the skirt . Her net veil was attached to a pearl - embroidered cap , and she carried a bouquet of pink carnations , lilies - of - the - valley , and white heather . The pages were Master Peter Kelly and Master Pat Colvin , who wore blue velvet trousers with pale - blue silk shirts . The bridesmaids were : Miss Sheila Templer ( sister of the bride ) , Miss " Judy " Glad stone , and Miss Rachel Phipps - Hornby . They wore long dresses of love - in - a - mist blue georgette , with puffed sleeves , and velvet sashes of a deeper blue . Their head - dresses were of love - in - a - mist , and they carried bouquets of white carnations and lilies of the valley . Picture shows a few of the dancers listening to some stories from a member of the guard . LANCERS ' BALL AT REDFORD Some 600 guests were entertained at the ball given at Redford Barracks by the 9th Queen's Royal Lancers in aid of a regimental charity for provision of assistance to ex - soldiers of the regi ment and their milies . The dance hall had been beautifully decorated for the occasion , and the success of the evening was greatly enhanced by Miss Gracie Fields , who provided the guests with a delightful surprise by rendering some of her most popular numbers . Among the guests were Sir Percy Radcliffe , General Officer Commanding - in - Chief ; Brigadier and Mrs Walsh , and all the officers and ladies of the 9th Lancers . 1933 . A GRAND NATIONAL RIDER AND HIS WIFE . CAPTAIN OTHO LESLIE PRIOR - PALMER , The 9th Lancers , will ride MASTER ORANGE in the Grand National on Friday next , March 24. The horse was formerly his own property , but was recently sold to Mrs. Mann , for whom Captain Prior - Palmer has arranged to ride it . HON . MRS . PRIOR - PALMER , who is also shown on this page , is the only daughter of Baroness Zouche , a Peeress in her own right , and of Sir Frederick Frankland , Bt . She married Captain Prior - Palmer in 1926 , and has one little girl , Diana Mary Leslie Prior - Palmer , born in 1929 . |
